The item for sale here is a 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 Hemi 4 Speed Car. Ever wanted a Hemi car? We always get clients who want an easy project to put together and this is the car for you. This is owner of Rocket Restorations Mike Volz's car and he has been collecting parts for it for over 15 years. This is a very rare one of 160 1966 Coronet 440 4 speed car. All the parts that come with the car are top notch including:
- NOS Wood grain Steering Wheel and Center Cap ($2,500 wheel)
- NOS Radio
- NOS Door Handles
- NOS Remote Driver Mirror
- A complete standard bore unassembled motor with everything 1966 dated including NOS rods, good used pistons, rebuilt heads with new valves, direct drive starter and correct 66 distributor
- 66 dated 18 spline 4 speed
- 69 Dana 60 3.54 rear end
- Doubles and triples of all the trim
- 5 Correct 5.5 Inch Hemi Wheels
As an added bonus this completely rust free Hemi car comes with a very nice parts car that has all the nuts, bolts and fasteners you need to put the car back together. The Hemi car was completely media blasted inside and out in 1999. The body was mounted on a rotisserie and the entire undercarriage has been done. The inside of the car and trunk are painted and the outside body is in primer with only a minimal amount of blocking needed to finish the car. It only had a very small floor pan patch and quarter panel patch when the bodywork was done. This car was bought new in Libby, Montana and spent most of its life in Spokane, WA which is a very dry salt free environment. Always buy the best car you can buy with your money and this is that car.
Mike has a complete owner history of the car and a Galen Govier inspection with a complete decode of the original IBM punch card. They do not get better documented than this car with the original fender tag, IBM punch card, both body numbers intact and readable on the body as well as the original VIN tag on the door jam. It is a red exterior, red interior, black vinyl roof car which is a great looking color combo. We have a picture posted with the fender tag of the car in the mid-70's and it was a very sharp looking car.
The Coronet is a totally loaded out car with power brakes, power steering, wood grain wheel, very rare power windows, 4 speed, Dana 60 rear end, clock, rear speaker, tinted glass and black vinyl roof. Mike has spent years and years collecting only the best parts for the car and is only selling it to buy another Hemi car.
The parts car was Mike's daily driver until a drunk hit it while parked in the middle of the night. It was a super nice driver until the rear end damage to it. The motor does not currently run but it rolls fine to transport anywhere. The driver side quarter panel is in perfect shape and has a nice trunk lid for the car. It has red interior is the same as the Hemi car and all of the parts the car is missing are on the parts car.
This is a awesome restoration project but here are a few things that are missing and/or not correct. The Dana 60 is a 69 dated rear end, not a correct 66 one; we cannot find the bell housing but we believe we have one in the shop somewhere, will try to update the auction if we find it; we do not have good bumper cores for it as the ones on the parts car were both damaged in the accident; the power brake bracket was modified and has it has an incorrect booster; the heads are not 66 dated, they are identical to 66 ones once installed, as mentioned they have been rebuilt and are ready to run; do not have a correct 66 oil pan, it comes with a 70 pan which holds two more quarts of oil that Mike was going to run on the motor; dated carbs are included but not pictured. Everything else not listed is either included or on the parts car. We might have missed a few small things but this is about as complete a project you can get when buying a shell.
Rocket Restorations is a full service Mopar shop and restoration services are available on the car if the new owner wishes. Please contact us for more details.
